About 54.9 percent of the 6,354 degrees and certificates handed out by the Salt Lake Community College in 2016-17 were to students in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in City conferred 1945 associate's degrees and 1545 certificates in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in General Studies. Data shows the school gave out 1944 associate's degrees in General Studies, followed by 1545 certificates in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies and 573 certificates in Computer and Information Sciences, General.

The college enrolled 29,901 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
