Office of the Arizona Governor Doug Ducey issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.
Over a century ago, the Arizona Exposition and State Fair was established to provide a gathering place for the Arizona community. Since 1905 — seven years before Arizona statehood — the fair has brought together Arizonans in a tradition of fun, food and world-class entertainment.
The State Fair hosts approximately 1.2 million visitors each year from all across Arizona over the course of its eighteen-day run — making it the largest public event held annually in our state.
The Fair is a state treasure that promotes livestock and agriculture, engages in public-private partnerships and has a significant impact on the Arizona economy. Each year, the Exposition and State Fair:
- Has an overall annual economic output of $92.7 million;
- Supports over 700 jobs and $24.5 million in wages each year;
- Partners with more than 80 private entities to generate over $20 million in revenue;
- Helps raise nearly $2 million in scholarships for Arizona youth.
