Salt Lake County ranked 6th in state for resident earnings in 2017


Salt Lake County ranked 6th among counties in Utah by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Salt Lake County residents was an inflation-adjusted $30,609 per year. Salt Lake County had 363,058 households in 2017, with a population of 1,106,700.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Summit County. Summit County's median income was $40,823 per year after adjusting for inflation – $10,214 more than Salt Lake County. It had 14,781 households in 2017 and a population of 39,731.

Sanpete County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in Utah, with a median income of only $18,247 per year. That was $12,362 less than the median income in Salt Lake County at the time. Sanpete County had 8,366 households in 2017 and a population of 28,892.
