Nationwide’s health and well-being program receives honors

Nationwide employee Dustin Richardson takes his health seriously. He works out at the gym five days a week, practices meditation and focuses on his mental health by meeting with a counselor regularly. The company makes it easy for him to prioritize his well-being because it also prioritizes the physical, mental, and financial health of its employees. Recently, its wellness programs earned Business Group on Health’s Best Employer Award and received Mental Health America’s Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health Platinum Award. Nationwide has also received the Healthy Business Council of Ohio’s Healthy Worksite Award for five years in a row.

"These accolades recognize Nationwide’s longstanding commitment and dedication to comprehensive benefits that help its employees live their best lives."

The Business Group on Health’s Best Employer Award rewards companies for their holistic well-being programs, employee experience, and culture of wellbeing. Mental Health America’s Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health Platinum Award recognizes employers committed to creating mentally healthy workplaces. Only 1 in 4 employers meet the certification standards.

“We value people, and our caring culture supports the wellbeing of our employees and their families in the workplace and at home,” said Vinita Clements, Chief Human Resources Officer. “Nationwide is proud to be recognized for the holistic support we provide to our employees.”

Nationwide’s integrative approach to well-being incorporates all aspects of health and safety and makes a variety of resources available to employees, such as providing 16 free, confidential counseling visits per issue per year for employees and their household members, including additional services like financial counseling and legal consultations.

“These resources help me be the best version of myself,” Richardson said. “When I take care of myself and my health and wellbeing, I’m a better employee, father, husband, and friend.”
